Here are a few tips on how to drive safely this weekend for both the excited teenagers and their worried parents.

1. Don't drink and drive. It's not worth it! If you think the driver has been drinking, don't get in the car, no matter how "fine" they think they are.

2. Wear your seatbelt. It is the oldest rule in the book, yet teenagers commonly throw it out, in order to impress their friends.

3. Have your transportation planned out ahead of time.

4. If you are driving, be aware of your surroundings. There will most likely be drunk drivers on the road going to and from prom. Make sure you check your mirrors and pay attention at all times. Do not get distracted.

5. Parents, make sure you communicate effectively with your child and keep in contact with them through the duration of the prom.

6. Don't overload the vehicle with people. Take multiple cars so there are less distractions yelling in the back seat.

7. Make sure your vehicle is safe to drive before leaving. Tire pressure, good? Oil levels, good? Windshield wipers working?

8. Don't drive in heels. It is not safe to drive in heels and reduces the amount of control and traction you have on your gas and break pedals.

9. Never be afraid to call home. If you get stuck in a sticky situation, call home right away. Don't risk it.

10. Avoid 99.9% of the stress and worry by hiring a professional driver, such as a limo driver.

Overall, enjoy your experience at prom this weekend. If you find yourself in a crunch, don't hesitate to call Kipper Insurance 760-471-2200.
